Xinjiang University

Founded in 1924. Xinjiang University is a comprehensive and the only national key university in Xinjiang.It has a wide range of academic disciplines and the highest level of scientific research in Xinjiang.

XJU provides 89 undergraduate specialty ,10 national characteristic specialty and 19 autonomous region scarce talented person specialty.8 doctoral degree programs of Level I academic disciplines, 47 doctoral degree programs of Level II academic disciplines, 11 Post-doctoral Mobile Station, 29 master degree programs of Level I academic disciplines,154 master degree programs of Level II academic disciplines and 8 master degree categories.2 National key academic disciplines, 1 National Key Basic Research disciplines; 6 key construction discipline groups of 211 project,16 autonomous region key academic disciplines and 2 autonomous region key cultivation disciplines.

By 2013 Xinjiang University is home to 24800 all kinds of students which includes 19400 full-time ordinary undergraduates, 5000 full-time graduates, 300 doctoral candidates,800 part-time graduates and 400 foreign students.There are 1824 full-time teachers, including 228 professors, 629 associate professors, 862 master’s degree teachers, 472 doctoral degree teachers, 99 doctoral supervisors and 582 master supervisors are working at the university during school years.

Xinjiang University has 2 national and 9 autonomous regional level teaching teams, 1 academician of Chinese academy of engineering, 1 distinguished professor of “Yangtze River Scholar”of the Minister of Education, 37 experts with state department special allowance, 19 autonomous regional level distinguished teachers, 14 autonomous regional outstanding experts, 3 members of “Millions of Talents Project”, 10 members of “New century excellent talents support program”, 39 members of Autonomous Region Tianshan Scholars, which includes 3 distinguished professors , 21 distinguished lecture professors, 10 lecturers, 5 Tianshan Students, 9 distinguished professors of Xinjiang University Tianshan Scholar and 14 distinguished lecture professors.

Xinjiang University Library (XUL) is provincial central libraries of China Academic Library and Information System (CALIS).The total collections of the library amounted to 2.765 million volumes and the total capacity of the e-books amounted to 41000GB.XJU has established campus network, the Xinjiang major node of CERNET, the control center of Xinjiang education regional network and Urumqi city network of education metropolitan. Furthermore, the university encompasses modern computer-based libraries and Northwest China first-class multifunctional gymnasium.

According to the arrangement of “Education Aid to Xinjiang” project, 10 universities including Tsinghua University team-based aid to Xinjiang University. Xinjiang University has been continuously and persistently striving to expand its extensive cooperation and exchange with universities and scientific research institution at home and abroad. Thus far, the university has signed collaborative agreements with 41 universities and developed bilateral communications with 134 universities and institutions in more than 30 countries including America, England, Germany, Japan etc.

The university now has become the Central Asian university student communication base and The Shanghai Cooperation Organization University regional science project university. Moreover, the university listed as one of the universities under the university president forum projects which includes China Russia University President Forum, China Japan University President Forum, China Korea University president Forum, Asian University President Forum and East Asia University President Forum.Xinjiang university. The university is the host university for the Chinese Government Scholarship students and it also have the qualification to accept Chinese Government Scholarship students with postgraduate degree or above.
